DemoSlide Specifications
The DemoSlide tube holds about 6ml of fluid. There are graduations at the 2ml, 3ml, 4ml and 5ml locations.
A tightly-fitting cap is provided with each tube.
The tube is about four inches long, of which about three inches is dedicated to storage of fluid, while the remaining inch is tapered to create an observation chamber suitable for microscopic examination of the contents. A portion of this part of the tube, about 0.35 inches square, is optically like a slide/coverslip situation.
Originally designed for safe handling of fluids for urinalysis etc where the use of a dedicated centrifuge is a prerequisite, this is not necessary for general field , classroom or lab examination of protozoa etc.
A mere swing of the arm creates enough centrifugal force to put a more than adequate number of cells in the observation chamber.
The longevity of the living organisms in a DemoSlide tube depends on the species, but seems to be far superior to having them slosh around in a larger container. Microscope salespersons can keep their protozoan "demonstrators" going for week-long sales trips! The inhabitants seem to spend a lot of time reproducing to make the demonstrations even more varied.
The standard quantity is 120 Demoslides per bag, but recently we have been shipping them in individual 12-Paks (Minimum order ten 12-packs) for customer convenience purposes.
